Movie Review: Dolphin Tale

Last month, I had a chance to fly across the country for a spur-of-the-moment trip with a friend. We took care of some work and enjoyed a few days of relaxing down time and rest. Our hotel had an IMAX theater and we took advantage of a chance to see a movie that I’d heard about, but hadn’t had a chance to see yet, Dolphin Tale.

Dolphin Tale is the story of Winter, a dolphin who survives a life-threatening injury, but loses her tail in the process.

For a dolphin without a tail, this is not only crippling, but a veritable death sentence. But thanks to the hard work and love of two young children and a few adults who believed in Winter as much as they did, they succeeded in what most people would have thought to be impossible.

I’m an animal lover and this movie struck a major chord in my heart. It’s inspiring, heartwarming, touching, and best of all true! This was the first film I’ve ever seen in 3D, and I confess, I jumped the first time I saw Winter swim straight at me! Seeing it in 3D was a fabulous experience, but the story itself captivated me early on in the film. In fact by the end of the movie, my friend and I were both sniffling and wiping our eyes.

Content-wise, this film is remarkably clean and suitable for the whole family. Dophin Tale stars Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, and Morgan Freeman.

As always, be sure to read an objective review from a Christian perspective before viewing it.
