Unconditional love. Such a tough concept to understand . . . and one that is even more difficult to practice.

Film Synopsis (from Amazon)

Teenagers Steve, Carrie, Cooper, and Gameboy embark on a weekend camping trip led by their church youth group leader Stuart (Sean Astin) and his wife Beth (Erin Bethea). Joining them is teen outsider Ashley, who is materialstic and self-involved, and whose bad attitude separates her from the rest of the group.

When a confrontation occurs between Ashley and Carrie, the division widens. Hoping for a resolution Stuart takes the opportunity to share with the group the touching story of the Old Testament prophet Hosea and his example of true commitment and unconditional love. Is this powerful story enough to inspire the teens to open their hearts to such an amazing love?

My Review of Amazing Love – The Story of Hosea

Unconditional love is something that I’ve been praying to have for those around me over the past several weeks, so when I saw Amazing Love: The Story of Hosea available in my Netflix streaming, I was instantly eager to watch it. The story of Hosea & Gomer is very different from the other love stories in the Bible, yet it is a wonderfully poignant example of Christ’s unconditional love for His Bride, you and I.

Amazing Love: The Story of Hosea is a powerful film with a life-changing message. It proclaims the truths of God’s redemptive love unashamedly, something that we don’t see often in movies today. The production quality is Hollywood worthy and the film is excellently cast, including two familiar names in Sean Astin and his mother, the incomparable Patty Duke.

While the story deals with the sensitive topic of Gomer’s prostitution, the subject is delicately addressed and the movie is very family-friendly. The film has been approved by the Dove Foundation.
