It’s the moment when my eyes first open and my brain wakes up, realizing that it is January 1.
I take a deep breath. I thank God for the chance to start fresh in a new day, and a new year.
It’s not that 2014 was bad. In fact, quite the contrary. 2014 was full of God’s blessings, unexpected adventures, and seeing God’s hand at work in my life. For that, I am truly grateful.
But 2014 was full of some rough times, too. My flesh ruled more than I would like and I’m still learning how to conquer those besetting sins. God was faithful to chasten when needed, always in love, but chasten He did.
I’m grateful for that, too.
But I am very grateful for the chance to start over with a clean slate. Of course, we can do this every day, moment by moment, but there’s just something special about starting over in a NEW YEAR.
This year, I’m praying that the Creator God will create again. I want to stay on the Potter’s wheel and continue to let God mold and shape and create me into His masterpiece.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
Goodbye, 2014. You were wonderful.
Hello, 2015. Let’s go forward with God.
